Overview:
SearchSystems
offers two services:
1)
DirectPass: a very large directory of links to official public
records databases and indexes, containing links to approximately
40,000 sites and resources, and
2)
Premium: a proprietary database of approximately 300 million
criminal court, sex offender & inmate records.
The
SearchSystems.net DirectPass service is widely used by researchers,
lawyers, journalists and investigators because it's a comprehensive
resource that's updated frequently. (Much like the SnoopStation
public
records directory, except that they charge for
access and have a larger scope of records source links).
Premium
searches would be more suited to individual searches for the
purpose of conducting a personal background check, a tenant
check or an employment background screening.
SearchSystems
charges $48.50 per year for its DirectPass service, and alternatively
offers a monthly payment option of $4.95 per month instead
of the annual fee. The Premium service is a pay-per-search
format where each search query ranges from $9 to $29 depending
on the scope of the search. Premium searches are discounted
for DirectPass members.

Feedback & Ratings:
The
general consensus online judging by user comments found on
forum posts, "question/answer" sites and other similar
sources is that SearchSystems provides a good service for
the intended audience, particularly DirectPass.
The
premium searches are well-suited to "casual" users
(ie. non-professional researchers), although the pay-per-search
costs can certainly add up. Other services with similar services
with the same coverage cost less.

Verdict:
SearchSystems.net
is designed for public records researchers. The
DirectPass service is one with incredible value - but
only for people who know "where to look",
while the Premium searches are expensive in comparison
to other competitors.
