Reverse
Phone Detective is the most-popular premium phone
number search service in the industry at the moment.
Reverse
Phone Detective (RPD) claims to provide information for most
landline, cellular and business phone numbers in the United
States coverage area, which may include things like the location
or address where the phone number is registered, the person
who registered the number, the phone service provider company
and so on.
RPD
states that it obtains information about phone numbers that
are unlisted (some wireless numbers, unlisted residential
phones, business phones, etc) via public records and proprietary
data.
Customer
Feedback & Ratings:
Reviews
on reverse phone detective are mixed because it works for
some people, and not for others.
This
makes sense, since these days obtaining a "pay as you
go" wireless phone or even an internet phone line (such
as "Skype") can be accomplished in a matter of minutes,
with the phone number being generated and assigned on the
fly - and oftentimes carried over from a previously cancelled
account.
So
not only are phone numbers becoming more transient in nature,
they're also becoming much harder to "pin down",
either by RPD or anyone else, for that matter.
However,
for many users, RPD was helpful and did live up to the service's
claims. In fact, in our own tests with the service, we found
that it did in fact pull up relevant information on some cell
phone numbers we ran through their search engine, while for
2 of the numbers we ran, only the carrier information and
city/area was available.
Our
Verdict:
Reverse
Phone Detective seems to provide good value,
and they offer a "no hit, no fee" type of
refund policy.
This
is better than going with a service like Intelius that
offers no guarantee.
